Assistant Coach

Branden Jovaag begins his third year as the men's basketball program's lead assistant coach this season after serving as a part-time assistant during the 2013-14 campaign.
 
Jovaag had a standout 4-year career at Oglethorpe, ranking in the top 10 in program history in career 3-pointers made and career 3-point percentage. He currently sits seventh in 3-pointers made with 172 over 86 career games. He stands 10th in 3-point percentage at 41.6 percent (172-for-413). He had the 11th-best 3-point shooting season in school history during his senior campaign of 2012-13, as he shot 45.3 percent (91-for-201) from beyond the arc over 27 games. He earned All-SAA Second Team honors for his efforts.
 
He was also a standout in the classroom, taking home Capital One Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America his senior season, as well as being named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll that year and to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2011-12 and the 2010-11 seasons.
 
Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, Jovaag graduated from Oglethorpe in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in psychology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration while coaching at Oglethorpe.
